Mission Statement -Vision Statements & Goals

SPSSEG is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization.

Our Mission:

“Protect and restore salmon populations and aquatic habitat with an emphasis on ecosystem function through scientifically informed projects, community education, and volunteer involvement”.

We envision:

1. Robust and persistent salmonid populations supported by South Puget Sound region ecosystems.

2. A leadership role in South Puget Sound freshwater and marine conservation and restoration.

3. Broad-based community support and involvement in accomplishing our mission.

4. A long-term and sustainable organization.

Vision Statement 1

Robust and persistent salmonid populations supported by South Puget Sound region ecosystems.

Goals:

  • Ensure healthy salmon stocks
  • Improve salmonid habitat
  • Increase utilization of habitat

Vision Statement 2

A leadership role in South Puget Sound freshwater and marine conservation and restoration.

Goals:

  • Participate in local and regional collaborative processes that identify and implement high quality, science-based, habitat protection and restoration projects
  • Provide citizens and governmental policy decision makers (tribal, federal, state, local) the ecological basis for regional restoration projects
  • Share technical experience from successful projects
  • Promote strategies for private landowner partnerships
  • Demonstrate use of strategic methods to identify projects, funding sources, monitoring, and maintenance protocols

Vision Statement 3

Broad-based community support and involvement in accomplishing our mission.

Goals:

  • Increase and diversify volunteer opportunities
  • Increase organizational membership
  • Increase diversity of stakeholders and partnerships
  • Showcase SPSSEG successes in the region
  • Monitor habitat conditions and the effects of our restoration and protection actions, and share results with the community.

Goals:

  • Diversify and stabilize funding, including corporate participation
  • Enhance our ability to identify, implement, and maintain relevant and successful projects and services
  • Maintain an active and effective Board of Directors
  • Implement a mission driven work plan and annual budget
  • Maintain well-trained and knowledgeable staff
