Powell Creek Barrier Removal and Habitat Enhancement

This summer, in partnership with the Nisqually Land Trust, SPSSEG is removing a defunct bridge abutment and associated rip-rap adjacent to the Nisqually River, and decommissioning 2,900 feet of private road, all on Nisqually Land Trust property.

In addition, we are removing three fish passage barrier culverts and one overflow culvert.

Combined, these projects will provide fish passage to Powell Creek for spawning salmonids and will increase hydrologic connectivity from the Powell Creek wetland complex to the Nisqually River.

Funded by the Pacific Salmon Commission, USFWS, and SRFB.

Below are photos of the bridge abutments. More photos to come!
