Riparian Plantings

Riparian (streamside) plantings restore native plants to help provide ideal conditions for salmon. These plantings create a buffer zone that provides shade to create cooler water temperatures, filters pollutants, stabilizes stream banks, provides habitat for wildlife and birds, controls invasive/exotic species, and provides long term benefits to streams when the mature trees fall over and create pools and other habitat for fish.

Of all the projects SPSSEG undertakes, planting projects, in particular, would not be possible without the hundreds of volunteers who put the plants in the ground.
