Contact MCD or SPSSEG to get your own FREE KC poster today Link to Kennedy Creek 2007 Volunteer Web Page Welcome chum salmon as they return to Kennedy Creek to spawn! The Kennedy Creek Salmon Trail, located in South Mason County, is an excellent opportunity to see wild salmon in their natural environment. This half-mile trail, created and hosted by SPSSEG, is partially ADA accessible. Volunteer Trail Guides will be available to answer questions. Find out more reasons why the Kennedy Creek Salmon Trail is worth visiting, peruse WDFW's Kennedy Creek web page http://www.wdfw.wa.gov/fish/chum/viewingchum_kennedy.htm. DOGS: Please remember to leave your dogs at home or be prepared to leave them in the car when visiting the trail. We have a no dog policy at Kennedy Creek to ensure the salmon are undisturbed as well as to keep dogs from getting salmon poisoning. Our canine friends are unfortunately susceptible to salmon poisoning via a parasite in the skin of live and dead salmon which can kill them or make them very sick! Group Tours and School Field TripsWeekday visits for schools and other organized groups are available by reservation only. For more information or reservations, contact Karin Strelioff at Mason Conservation District Ph:(360) 427-9436 ext. 22 or 1-800-527-9436 email: karinls@masoncd.org NEW Interactive Trail MapWe are now pleased to offer an interactive, on-line version of Kennedy Creek Salmon Trail. In spring 2006, SPSSEG teamed up with Dr. Joel Elliott, at the University of Puget Sound (UPS), to produce this informative educational tool. Use it as a pre-visit familiarization activity or as a post visit follow up. You may also use the interactive map as a springboard to develop a lesson plan relating to some aspect of salmon ecology or as an application of GIS/GPS technology. Support for this project was made possible through UPS and a grant to Dr. Elliott from the Northwest Academic Computing Consortium. This page is best viewed using Internet Explorer. Click here to load the Freshwater page of this UPS project. This will link you directly to the interactive map of the Kennedy Creek Salmon trail.
The trail, overlooks, and bridge are ADA accessible.
